Summer Reading Wishlist

summer reading wishlist

I don’t know about you but I’m not a consistent reader. Despite how much I really want to to be, it’s something I’m working on this year and I do hope I get better. I find that I am a type of person who needs to be taken over by the characters and the plot; if not, I will be fully uninterested within the first chapter or two. So if you have any books you love that you get absolutely lost in, please please let me know what they are! You always take a chance when you read the back cover of a book unless you know that you like a certain author- it’s a blind date! Here’s a list of owned books I have of different styles and genres and also a whole other list of books to buy soon. Have you read any of the to buy books? If so tell me which ones to get first.

OWNED:

Daughter Detox-I have had this book on my wishlist for over a year. I’ve had a hard relationship with my mother for years (despite her opinion). I feel like this will help me heal and explain how I feel more so that I can understand. I need to understand how to accept her with her flaws, the hurt she’s caused and move on…. since there’s not enough effort on her part and too much on mine.

The Birth Order Book– This fascinated me because I am in a interesting birth order; youngest child and only child. Huh, you say? Yes well that’s what I want to find out, what kind of person I am for this. I’ve struggled with my siblings also for years so I feel like this will explain A LOT about my family structure and my life itself.

All the Beautiful and Wonderful Things- (from goodreads summary…) “As the daughter of a meth dealer, Wavy knows not to trust people, not even her own parents. Struggling to raise her little brother, eight-year-old Wavy is the only responsible “adult” around. She finds peace in the starry Midwestern night sky above the fields behind her house. One night everything changes when she witnesses one of her father’s thugs, Kellen, a tattooed ex-con with a heart of gold, wreck his motorcycle. What follows is a powerful and shocking love story between two unlikely people that asks tough questions, reminding us of all the ugly and wonderful things that life has to offer.”

Verity– Colleen Hoover is supposed to be a great author and I have many other of her books.
I’m intrigued that its a mystery around a writer who doesn’t get to finish her book, so a new ghost writer comes in and secretly finishes the book she never wanted anyone to see surrounding the mysterious plot. She uncovers a secret that would ruin her husbands life forever.

The Playground- (from goodreads summary…)
Over the course of a long, hot summer in London, the lives of three very different married couples collide when their children join the same tutoring circle, resulting in illicit relationships, shocking violence, and unimaginable fallout.

101 essays that will change the way you think– I have been seeing everyone reading this book and well I’d like to change the way I think… I’m very interested in its content. An array of essays by the author that will have you second guessing.

My anxiety seems to calm down when I’m doing more relaxing things like reading on a daily basis. I’ve recently decided that it’s a pillar of my content and I want to do more sharing of things I love. I hope you enjoyed and share below what you’re reading right now or one book you’re looking forward to getting.

  1. OMG YOU MUST MUST MUST read All the Beautiful and Wonderful Things and Verity.

All the Beautiful and Wonderful Things is really different. I went into it really not expecting what would happen, but it’s a beautiful story. And Verity… is screwed up in the very best way. It’s an intense read.

And I know I’ve read Summer Sisters but it was awhile ago (apparently before I started doing book reviews) and I honestly cannot remember what I thought of it!
